Crow T. Robot / Joe Crow's eye method

Hey all.

I just attempted a build of Crow's eye mechanism using the Joe Crow method - mostly because it seemed to me the easiest build. But upon doing it, it was not a successful turnout. The elastic wasn't tugging the eyes back to center, the screw holding the styrene onto the dowel was getting in the way of the eyes, and recommended drill hole size on the styrene seem to be unnecessarily too big.

I was wondering if anyone else has built it using Joe Crows method and if they have had success, before I try again. Not sure if I just need to try again or if the design overall is flawed. Any feedback is appreciated - also if anyone can recall any specific pointers they can supplement from when they built Joe's mechanism, I'd love to hear it.

Crow T. Robot / Bulldog adhesion promoter

One of the sources I'm pulling from for building Crow is a YouTube video by askbotboy. He recommends spraying him with Bulldog brand Adhesion promoter as a base coat before paint. I was wondering if anyone had any experience/tips here about that.

1) has anyone used the Bulldog adhesion promoter? It's a little expensive since, so I was wondering if another brand adhesion promoter would do just as well. If so, which one?

2) I have Testors Semi-Gloss gray primer. Any thoughts on if I can use that as an acceptable base coat over the adhesion primer?

I'm looking to start priming and painting soon, so I want to gather as much info as I can now. I'm going to the Philly live show and was hoping I could bring a completed Crow along with Tom, so I have just over a month.

Buy / Sell / Trade / Crow joints

I was able to get some lengths of Plastruct for Crow's arms (thank you everyone for your advice up to this point). But now, I am looking for the absolute final pieces of crow I need: the joints that hinge and connect his arms.

Does anyone have any parts they'd be willing to sell me, or point me towards, without having to also buy the arms and hands as a set?

I don't want to give away any specifics, so as to not spoil the fun for anyone who has to wait until Friday to watch the new season. But I am sold! They brought it back great. Plenty of fresh and new while still retaining what's always worked and is familiar for lifelong fans.

My biggest concern before seeing it was that the riffs were going to be a little too topical to today's popular culture and would make references mostly for the younger generation - but that was not the case at all. The riffing was definitely at times making modern references, but nothing that felt alienating to me for not watching TMZ or MTV or whatever the kids today tweet about. It was sharp and funny and I can't wait for more!

For those who have the bowling pin (real or duplicate) with the E symbol on it, is there an official ruling on whether the symbol should be on top of his beak, or hidden on the underside? I've seen quite a few builds with the E on top, but I don't think I've ever seen it on the show.

Bot Building - General Discussion / Crow arms

I have everything I need to start building Crow, except his arms. It looks like someone on eBay is maintaining a store, but the arms look to be just wooden dowel rods. Is there a good readily available source? replica or not.

Also, what about this on Amazon? Has anyone ever used these for the arms?
