I’d like to know how they achieved the bend, too...

Any tips on buffing Servo’s noggin up?

I’m considering the Novus polishing kit. It’s got three different runs to clean plastic and get rid of scratches.

Same here. I’m pouring over photos and old episodes but I haven’t been able to confirm whether or not the netting is gone on the screen-used Crows.

I know several well-respected Crow construction tutorials say to get rid of the netting... I’m just not sold on the idea, yet.

I’m reminded of a joke from grad school. My Organizational Theory professor said, “Whenever my wife would make pot roast, she would cut the ends off before putting it in the pan. I asked her why and she said her mother had done it. I then asked my wife’s mother why she cut the ends off the pot roast and she said her mother had done it. So, finally, I asked my wife’s grandmother why she cut the ends off her pot roast and she said, when she was first married, her good cooking pan was small so she had to cut the ends off to make the roast fit.”

Thanks for the replies, folks.

But, to clarify— Are there any screen-grabs or behind-the-scenes photos that show screen-used Crows without the netting?

So, are there any photos that show the plastic netting on the floraliers having been removed?

The black paint always seems to flake off of the nets so it’d make sense to cut them out...

Anyone give this a shot? I'd love to see more pics.

Crow T. Robot / Template for cutting Crow's bowling pin?
« on: September 15, 2016, 07:47:09 PM »
I know we all kind of have a "Do Whatever Works For You" approach to cutting Crow's pin, but with imaging software being what it is, has anyone thought about scanning some Crow pics and creating a screen-accurate template for two parts of the pin?

I realize there were several different Crows with several different styles of cuts, but I'm sure we could come to some sort of consensus, right?

Is this still on-going?

If they're the stands I'm thinking of, they were made from round concrete forms from Home Depot or Lowes. You could cut some wooden circles out and screw them into the top and bottom of the cardboard tubes. Then, you just decorated them with random greeblies (just like the SOL walls) and then paint them up.

I remember trying my hand at them probably 15 or so years ago. Pretty cool idea, really.

Pretty rad. Can't wait for the new mold.

Between this and the hand discovery, ol' Servo is feeling all new and exciting.

Is that 1/2 inch PVC you're using?

Crow T. Robot / Re: Attaching hockey mask to bowling pin?

There's a pic floating around of a screen-used Crow sporting a simple bolt, washer, nut combo on the face mask.

The question I always go back to is the placement. Is it bolted further back on the pin? Is it bolted closer to the curve of the pin?

And what about the mask itself? You can slide adjust the mask so that the cage sits higher or lower-- Which is more authentic to the screen-used bots?

Of course, the answer is that BBI used tons of different configurations over the years.

Awesome work!

I love the idea of the thumb wheel.

Fantastic work, sir! You'd never know the lime gold wasn't used.

Also, it's nice to see another GB builder!! I'm in the process of making a hero AND a semi-hero. No joke, it's taken five years to get where I am now, and I'm still not close to fished.
