MST3K Related Props / The Skull Ship (From "Teenagers from Outer Space")
« on: August 16, 2011, 12:01:56 PM »
Another great prop owned by Darkstar creator Jeff Williams.

This was on a very tall shelf... I was on my tippy toes (I'm 6' 4") just to get these shots.

Here's a "thumbnail" with huge pics bellow...

Again, huge thanks to Jeff for letting me take these shots!

MST3K Related Props / The Satellite of Love (Seasons 7 - 10)
« on: August 16, 2011, 11:49:18 AM »
I recently got to take some shots of the Season 7 - 10 SOL model (owned by my good friend Jeff Williams of Darkstar fame)

Here's a "thumbnail," and below are links to giant size pictures....

I'm amazed at all the random stuff stuck to the model to make it look more "busy."

Every day I have to reject at least 15 to 20 spambots that try and create accounts on the forum.

It's very disheartening that the sort of bots that are most anxious to post are the ones we don't want in here selling their miracle mortgage enhancement creams! ;)

I've installed a new mod that checks the name and email address used to register against a database of known spambots and rejects anything it thinks is suspicious.

In the limited testing I've done, it's pretty good at filtering out things like "bigdaddy...54@spamalamadingdong.poop" but will also block ""

That being said, if you're having trouble registering, send me an email with the error you're getting at:

t y r an tlas at gmail (dot) com

I'll be sure to look into it, and email you back.

Crow T. Robot / My most recent arms...
« on: August 08, 2011, 08:12:46 PM »

11" / 10" / 10" / 10.75"

I like the positioning of the wrist and shoulder with these measurements.  Plus it allows you to extend the arm without things binding up.

Lil' Monsters joints.  They work best with 100 degree head screws.  I painted the screws separately.

Here we are up top.  Prototype reversed "fancy" wrist.  It's got some texture issues, but heck, it's a prototype!

Finally complete!

We all remember this classic from Starfighters...

Pretty straight forward... just needs a paint job (Big thanks to Gerrit Rogers!)

Here's the fully painted one that Tom Noel purchased when BBI was doing their eBay auctions.

The incredibly talented Mr. Chance Williams has graced the site with our first banner (in a series of 4).

Amazing work, by an amazing artist!

MST3K Related Props / Mads Desk
« on: July 08, 2011, 01:05:18 AM »
The same guy who had the doors, also had this desk...  I don't know what era... I did some scanning though episodes and couldn't ID it.

MST3K Related Props / Scifi Era Doors
« on: July 08, 2011, 12:52:56 AM »
A guy in Florida was selling the Scifi era doors in maybe 2009...  I had the guy on the hook to sell, but he wasn't willing to ship, or even have a trucking company do a pickup.

I wonder if they're still collecting dust in a storage unit, or they got thrown away since he seemed keen on "clearing some space."

As you can see in the 2nd pic, he had some other screen used MST3K stuff. :(

MST3K Related Props / Mike's "Metaluna Mixer" Helmet

Someone sold this bad boy on eBay in 2010 (I think)...  I don't remember ever seeing a COA.

MST3K Related Props / Interocitor Manual
« on: July 08, 2011, 12:37:33 AM »
This showed up a couple of years ago on eBay...  Thought seriously about bidding on it.  If memory serves, the seller put a crazy high reserve on it, and didn't understand that "not art directed" means "it wasn't actually the one they used in the movie."

MST3K Related Props / Pearl's Widowmaker *Updated*
« on: July 04, 2011, 09:47:56 PM »
A recent (as of July 4th 2011) eBay auction gave some good up close pics of the original Widowmaker miniature used for the opening sequence of MST3K's 7th, 8th, and 9th seasons.

The original VW diecast car is made by French model car maker Solido.  It's model VM Combi (Kombi) 1966 1/19 scale.

For those with a more daring approach to prop making, here's the original fullsize prop.  The picture is from the 2nd time the vehicle was auctioned.  I guess it never actually ran because I remember it being sold without an engine.

Bot Building - General Discussion / Compliment colors?
« on: July 01, 2011, 10:13:01 AM »
This might sound a little strange, but what 2 colors do you think about when you think about the bots from MST3K?

Each bot has a dominate color, and a secondary "complimenting" color...

For Crow, Lime Gold Metal Flake... I see black as the secondary color

For Servo, Ruby Red Metal Flake...  I see white as the secondary color

For Gypsy, Purple Metal Flake... and whatever the lip color was that week ;)

What about the actors?

Joel seems like red and yellow...

Mike seems like blue and some dark color like black...

Thoughts? Opinions?

Gypsy / Gypsy reproduction car seats?

Reproduction Infant Love Seats are supposedly on the horizon... if they were economical, would you buy one and build a Gypsy?
