CPVC lengths?
« on: May 09, 2015, 12:58:35 AM »
Ron, I've seen your very helpful picture of the various sizes of CPVC used for Crow, and how they fit into each other. But I can't seem to find their lengths anywhere. I figure everyone's mileage may vary slightly from build to build, but a ballpark idea of what I should pick up at the hardware store would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to shell out for way more than I'll need if I can avoid it. Thanks!

I've used CPVC based on advice I got years ago from Neil "Quartus" Bridges.  It's not show accurate, but it does work well.

That being said....

The lengths are really based on how you intend to puppeteer or store your Crow.

For example, if you want them to extend out of the bottom of the Floralier enough for you to stand in a puppet trench, then they're going to need to be longer than say the length needed to plug into one of those stands that Bob Bukoski sells.

Since the CPVC is sold in set lengths, just buy those, and cut to the size desired.

Thanks Ron! I will probably be going with a "Bob Stand" down the road a bit.

I also had a question about the section between the floralier and the bowling pin--elsewhere you posted a picture of the whole assembly, and one of the pieces is described as "3/4" to 1/4" CPVC T with T removed." But for the life of me, I can't find a T that's 3/4" to 1/4" anywhere. Is it possible you meant 3/4" to 1/2"...? If not, where did you find the 3/4" to 1/4" T?

Yes, that's the size I've been able to find. So the "1/4" is a typo, then, and should be "1/2"...?
