only defect is the mouth can't open that wide due to the back piece. also the head is pretty much welded together.

and the lip is now starting to flake. Although there is still some silver stain left on the foam, so there's that. Problem though is the lip is hot glued on, so i have a risk of messing up the metal flake.

If you want to remove the lip try rubbing alcohol.  I don't know how it will affect the metal flake paint, but it will make hot glue pop right off.  Test it out in a hidden spot or on a paint chip first.  It may not affect the paint at all.

I would apply the alcohol with a small paint brush.  Once you get a small section of the glue seam to break stick the brush into the seam and push it toward the glue that is still sticking.  Gently push the brush and pull at the glue.

Might have to repaint the head since there was still duct tape on it, and the paint is finally starting to peel off a little.

Hey all, anyone else have any other ideas for substitute heads and other parts? Please keep them coming! I'm cosplaying Joel Robinson for a con next week and would have loved to have made a bot, so it would be great to see more ideas so I can improve my cosplay with a bot! :)

The head of my Gypsy was built from a random infant seat, a sterilite container, some wood, and scrap metal so i can't make instructions for it, but the coil, flange, eye, and lip were made of the same stuff as an actual gypsy, with the eye being the one from season 11. That said though, gypsy took over a month to build, while tom only took a week. Most recommend tom being your first build, since he is small, and simple.

I'm seriously thinking about doing a Gypsy like yours.
