Bonehead costume
« on: November 12, 2017, 05:13:05 PM »
As we all know, boneheads came from Inframan:

But those super soldiers need to be represented by the masses:

So we found some motorcycle helmets and started making the conversion:

The original Motorcycle helmets used have been identified, but when you find a close enough helmet for $5 its hard to say no.  Despite my crappy bondo work...

Can't wait!

Related:  Does anyone know for use if they're using those plastic femurs and cutting them in half, or actually using those "bone through the head" novelty things?

The actual life jacket is a Super Soft PFD/Life Vest that was painted white and had side sections cut out:

But due to the fact my wife and Smits wants to wear them at a con in two weeks, they are making the jackets from scratch with floormat.

I'm loving this!

You say the correct helmet has been identified.  Would you mind sharing images/info of the exact helmet here?  I'm, er... asking for a friend.  ;)

It helps that the wife is involved.  She tapped on her friends who became professional costume designers due to their cosplay work for help identifying the parts.

The official helmet does not have the visor rivets, but they have them without:

So modgepudge is running off the gasket...so we are going with the backup plan of reflective tape.

So bones got three coats of paint, two of modge podge, and three coats of spray paint:

Then with some quick knife and hot glue work:

While doing this work, the wife and smits traced a pattern to foam and we cut it out and barged it together:

Itll get the ribs cut out and painted white tonight.

So updates:
Smits painted the skull on the helmets while wife cut the ribs out of the handmade life jackets:

The project yall didnt get to hear about was Smits and wife making a Synthia costume.  Heres wife and Smits at the con they are at this weekend:

The gun is an old drill attached a candlestick to to make a raygun years ago and when getting christmas out last week she found it.  It is a good substitute for a "Watch out for Snakes" Gun which is on the docket for next year.  Modgepodge would not attack to gasket, so reflective tape won out for the quick fix.

Ten bucks says if you share this to MST3K on a social media of some sort, they'll share it across their various platforms and maybe even on the official site!
